Family: Cares for her mum
Ms. Chandy, 24, comes from a family of fishmongers and was studying to be a tour guide but when her dad stepped on a land mine 10 years ago their lives changed overnight. Sadly her father did not survive and her mum was unable to keep the family business alive. Chandy left school aged 14 to help her mum but the business did not survive.
Her mum then left their village in search of work leaving Chandy as head of the house. Chandy looked after her brother and worked for several years before her mum started working for Khmer Life. Today she works alongside her mum pattern cutting for Fikay. She says “I’m very happy creating something new. You need to stay positive and good things will come your way”.
